Footnotes of a Sneakerhead

September 29, 2017

I’m taking an long holiday trip for Thanksgiving and have been looking for stylish but comfortable sneakers. After browsing, I’ve sent over my options to my sneakerhead friend named B, and here were his thoughts:

  1. K-Swiss Clean Court
    B: I like them.
Me: Reminds me of the Saints.
  2. Cole Haan Grand Tour Oxford
B: It’s a weird mix, wing tips with tennis shoe soles. Just don’t get it.
Me: The mix is exactly why I like them.
  3. Under Armour 24/7 Explosive
B: I’m digging the UAs. I like the grey/black knit pattern. I don’t love the circles or the borderline tacky logo. They should’ve just left it on the tongue and went clean on the sides.
Me: I agree with the logo, but I’m really into the knit right now.
  4. Keds Coursa
B: Simple and clean. I’d go with these.
Me: They’re on sale, so I will probably get them.
  5. Kenneth Cole Reaction Joey 6
B: Reminds me of the Stan Smith Adidas. you should check those out.
Me: I like the color blocking and textures of the Reactions. I know a few people who have the Stan’s. Nothing wrong with having the same thing, I rather just do something on my own. Plus, I don’t think they have them in kids. Women sizes are too big for me.
  6. Skechers You Inspire
B: They look like nun shoes. They’re just meh.
Me: LOL. I like the all black.
  7. Ugg Tye Lace Up
B: They look cheap. Nothing exciting going on for them.
Me: I like the old school look with the different textures. But now that I look at them more, yeah they look weird.
  8. Naturalizer Jaque
B: I’m half way digging them. Depends on what you wore them with—they don’t look universal.
Me: I like the casual but almost sporty look.

With Nordstrom Rack’s sale I bought the K-Swiss, Keds, and Kenneth Cole’s. Unfortunately none of those worked out.

However…

I was gifted these exquisite Nike Mayfly pair for my birthday! Apparently, Nike has a new technology where they take clouds and make them into shoes, because that’s how amazing they feel. And since Romee Strijd and I now have the same pair of shoes, does that make me an off-duty model?

Your taste is so distinct that I picked a song from your playlist for karaoke and TuVy said “this sounds like a Kabrina song.” While I love my quiet time, sometimes it’s a deafening silence when you leave for school again. Like that Ke$ha song, the party don’t start til you walk in. Happy birthday to the crowd favorite, especially Dad’s.
